Zamora backs himselfIn-form West Ham hit-man Bobby Zamora has backed himself to keep his starting spot upfront this season.
Zamora said: “I couldn’t have had a better start from a goal-scoring point of view.
“There was a lot of competition for striking places here last season and it has been ramped up even more.
“When I learned Carlton was coming from Chelsea, it was obvious it was going to make it harder for everyone.
“But it never crossed my mind to leave. And at a club like West Ham you have to develop the attitude that you don’t care who comes in. Bring the competition on.
“With West Ham in the UEFA Cup this season, I knew we’d have a lot of games. We could be playing three a week, so everyone will get a chance.”
He added: “I’m quite critical of my performances and I don’t think I played well at Watford.
“It was a horrible game for us, because they make it so difficult for forwards.”
