Wenger admits January contact

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that promising youngster Jeremie Aliadiere was close to joining Middlesbrough during the recent transfer window.

Speaking to the club’s official website Wenger said: "It was an option we considered and he considered.

"But the injury to Robin van Persie killed that possibility."
