Villa star signs

Aston Villa midfielder Gavin McCann has signed an extended contract at Villa Park, keeping him at the club until 2008.

David O'Leary was desperate to tie down the ex-Sunderland player to a longer deal and said: "Gavin is the kind of hero only appreciated by players. You sometimes don't realise what he contributes until he is missing."
