Villa star goes under the knifeScottish Midfielder Gavin McCann could be missing from the Aston Villa team for another two months due to a knee injury.
Boss David O'Leary told the club's official website: "Gavin has undergone surgery,
"He is fine now but he will be out for between six to eight weeks. This is a big blow to us because he's an important player.
"Gavin is the type of lad who will just get on with things and carry on regardless. But it has been obvious that he hasn't been right in recent weeks and he told us so himself.
"It's not like Gavin to complain. He's one of those players who will run through brick walls for you but he has been proved right because the surgeon saw there was a problem.
"We will just have to get by without him for the next few weeks and hope he gets back in action as soon as possible."
