Villa await the return of VassellFormer Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell will return to his home-town club this weekend and his former boss manager David O'Leary is looking forward to it.
The England international moved to Manchester City in the summer and will make his first appearance against his former club next Monday.
O'Leary insists he was right to offload the pacey front-man, aware that the player needed a fresh challenge to rejuvenate his somewhat stalled career.
O'Leary told Sky Sports News: ''It's amazing, you get letters from people about Darius, who is a great fella and you can never win with fans,
''That's life and you have to get on with it. Darius Vassell is a wonderful boy and I can't wait to see him on Monday.
''Darius himself is looked after by good people, who knew that to get his career back on track he needed a change and I totally agreed with them.
''I think Darius needed a change, the boy knew that himself and it was good business for Villa as well.
''I think it has worked out well for both of us.
''We haven't sold City a bad player; he's a good player but a good player who needed to go somewhere else.''
