Toffees hit-man linked with moveEverton striker James Beattie is being linked with a move to Sheffield United after their manager Bryan Robson revealed that he had made an offer for the player.
"We have put a bid in to Everton and it is one of those situations now where we just have to wait and see," said Robson.
"If I can persuade the lad to take the drop, hopefully just for one season, I think James Beattie would be a really good signing for us.
"I've got a couple of things in the pipeline which are very close.
"Hopefully over the next 48 hours we can move further forward and make a couple of players Sheffield United players."
