Solalno reveals Toon targetsNewcastle United winger Nolberto Solano has revealed that celebrations following the derby win over Sunderland were muted as the club are desperate to finish in the top four.
The 3-2 win at St James' Park marked Solano's first appearance for The Magpies since he returned to Tyneside from Aston Villa before August's transfer deadline.
And the Peruvian admits the three points were vital for the manager and hopes they will act as a springboard for Newcastle to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
He said: "The players were not celebrating in the dressing room because we are ambitious and we are too far away from where we want to be,
"We have lost too many points this season and this is not the time to enjoy the moment. We are happy for the fans but that is about it.
"This is a big club, with big expectations. Of course, there is pressure on the manager, but with all the squad available to him, things will be different.
"That was a win for the manager. He deserves it. He is a great man and he has been under pressure all the time.
"Our ambition is still to finish in the top four."
