Sir Alex praises troopsSir Alex Ferguson has praised his Manchester United side following their impressive 3-0 win at Charlton Athletic.
Ferguson said: "It was a great performance by us with Gary Neville ruled out this morning and others missing, it's a real demonstration of how strong the pool is.
"It's a maturing team, the young players like Fletcher and O'Shea are growing up.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is more mature and it was a fantastic performance by him tonight.
"It's always a tough game here, you have to wear them down and be patient.
"In the first half we could have got a bit frustrated, we played good football and deserved to be in front but we got a goal out of nothing and Darren took his goal very well."
Ferguson went on to reveal his happiness in seeing injury-prone striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer net his first Premiership goal in three years saying: "That was a great moment for all of us, to see a player persevere through a torrid time, he never lost faith and he got his repayment tonight."
