Shepherd flies to PortugalNewcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd has flown to Portugal to discuss the future of midfielder Hugo Viana.
The 22-year-old has impressed Sporting Lisbon during his season-long loan and the Portuguese club are reportedly keen to tie up Viana on a permanent deal.
But Shepherd wants to establish how interested Sporting are in re-signing their former player and if they are willing to meet the £5m asking price.
Shepard said: "We want to know what they are going to do at the end of the season.”
