Shearer escapesAlan Shearer has not been charged by the English FA over his clash with Everton's David Weir.
The FA confirmed on Tuesday they cannot take the matter further after match referee Howard Webb confirmed he had seen the incident in which the Newcastle United skipper appeared to catch the Everton defender with his elbow as the two men jumped for a high ball, and dealt with it.
The FA's director of communications, Adrian Bevington said: "Howard Webb has confirmed to us that he saw the incident at the time,
"Therefore, that prevents us from taking any other action under FIFA regulations.
"The matter is now closed."
