Rovers ace delightedAmerican goalkeeper Brad Friedel has signed a new deal at Blackburn keeping him at Ewood Park until 2008.
The 34-year-old, who had 12 months of his present contract to run, told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I'm delighted. I feel the staff we have now are ambitious and they want to take the club forward,
"They want to get us up to where we were a few years back when we were fighting for the European places."
He added: "I've always been someone who has tried to keep myself as fit as possible and I think I've probably got four or five good years left in me, so I was very comfortable in committing myself to another three years,
"At the end of that contract, if we can go on year to year from there then great but, if not, that is fantastic as well."
