Roeder hails king ShearerNewcastle caretaker manager Glenn Roeder has praised record breaking Alan Shearer.
"I'm very pleased, It goes without saying that the emotions in the dressing room are one, for the win, two, for the performance, and thirdly, everyone is delighted for Alan Shearer.
"To break the record in open play - it was an Alan Shearer type of goal, getting on to a flick, drawing the keeper and finishing. There were a lot of good emotions there today.
"It is fantastic for him. Alan is always very gracious and when he equalled it, I remember he said something like 'if I don't beat it, it's just great to be up there'.
"But I know Alan Shearer better than that and, deep down, he wanted the record to himself.
"He has got it and, in the modern game, there are not enough words, or adjectives, you could use to describe how hard it was to break that record."
