Pires apologises

After apologising to France coach Raymond Domenech Robert Pires hopes to have paved the way for his international return.

The Arsenal midfielder has not been selected for his country since October last year following his criticism of Domenech in France Football magazine.

Pires, 32, told French TV channel TF1: "I said things at a bad time in my life but never wanted to hurt the squad.

"I wanted to apologise. I still believe I can make it for the 2006 World Cup."
