Pearce offers Villa £1.25million

Stuart Pearce last night made a £1.25million bid to bring Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell to Manchester City.

Villa, who snapped up Kevin Phillips from Southampton, will let Vassell go but want at least £2.5m.

Villa have been eyeing City defender Sylvain Distin and may offer cash plus Vassell for him.
