O'Neill keen to sign dealsAston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is looking to retain the services of both Gavin McCann and defender Olof Mellberg, but admits he has yet to discuss any extensions with the players.
"I haven't done so at the moment," said O'Neill.
"I will certainly get an opportunity to do so.
"I wouldn't read anything into the lack of urgency at the moment at all.
"In fact, I had spoken to Olof some weeks ago just to see who his agent was, just so that we could get in touch. And I will be speaking to them very shortly.
"Similarly, I had spoken to Gavin very, very briefly about the same thing. It was not a long, convoluted conversation but it is something we will sit down and address."
