O’Shea gleans the positivesManchester United defender John O'Shea is confident that the club can still glean positives from this disappointing season.
Though United stretched their unbeaten run in The Premiership to 20 games on Saturday, the 0-0 draw against Blackburn Rovers saw them lose second spot to Arsenal.
Versatile Irishman O'Shea is still trying to look on the sunny side, with United due to tackle Newcastle United in the FA Cup semi-finals later this month.
He said: "You have to give credit where it is due,
"We were hoping Chelsea would suffer a blip but it hasn't happened and with so few games left you have to accept it is almost over for us now.
"I suppose it is difficult to take in because we have been on such a great run ourselves.
"The Champions League was disappointing as well so we must make sure we finish strongly and seal second place.
"If we can do that, and pick up an FA Cup medal as well, when you look at the mixture of experience, freshness and talent in the squad, I can only see positives for next season."
