O’Neill convinces Baros to stayNew Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has convinced Czech Republic international Milan Baros to stay at the club this season.
O’Neill said: “I’ve spoken to Milan and if he thought he would be in our plans, which obviously he would be, then I think he would want to stay. There has been talk of clubs interested in him but I wouldn’t want him to go at this stage.”
Baros, who returned to training recently, is still some way off making a return for Villa.
O’Neill added: “The injury is underneath his heel and it’s causing a lot of problems. He left here well and he’s arrived back unfit.
“He hurt it in training and they [Czech national team] wanted him to play a game. They played him when he was not properly fit. I’ve utmost sympathy for clubs.
“Players are getting a substantial amount of money from the clubs but are getting injured on international duty.
“Some countries do not pick up some or all of the wage bill.
“Some of them do not even insure the players but they want them back as soon as we have got them fit again.”
