Nesta dismisses rumoursMilan stopper Alessandro Nesta has dismissed any speculation linking him with a return to the national team set up under Marcello Lippi.
“The national team is a closed chapter,” said Nesta.
“Leaving the Azzurri had nothing to do with Roberto Donadoni, I had major physical problems that stopped me from playing.”
The former Lazio man also commented on Milan’s summer transfer campaign.
“The club has done well in the market,” he said. “And this year we can challenge for the Scudetto as well as the UEFA Cup, which seems to be less difficult than the Champions League on paper.
“As we don’t have the Champions League as an objective, we can focus on domestic affairs because we haven’t done so well in Serie A for a few years.”
