Mellberg goes under the knifeOlof Mellberg has undergone surgery on the knee he injured at Newcastle United.
The Villa skipper sustained the injury in the club's 3-0 win at St James' Park on Saturday.
Villa boss David O'Leary is unsure how long Mellberg will be sidelined for and told the club's official website: "He is with the surgeon, as we speak, and I am waiting for reports on the full extent of the injury,
"It is a blow, but we don't know yet how much of a blow."
