Villa manager David O'Leary has made it clear he does not want a repeat of his captain’s comments before the December meeting between the clubs.
The Villa star then said he did not like the Blues players or supporters and would never play for them.
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce used Mellberg's comments as a motivational factor ahead of the game - which his side won 2-1 - then hit out at the player after the Villa Park showdown.
O'Leary was also livid with Mellberg, with whom he has had a hot and cold relationship since dropping him for his first match as Villa manager at Portsmouth 19 months ago.
The Villa chief told the Birmingham Sunday Mercury: “I don't think Villa's best interests will be served by any more words on the subject of Birmingham City from Olof.”
