McLeish defends FergusonRangers boss Alex McLeish has defended skipper Barry Ferguson after his red card against Motherwell yesterday.
McLeish believes his player was more sinned against than sinner in the 79th minute incident which saw him react to a crude challenge from behind by Motherwell substitute Richie Foran.
He said: "I thought Barry got a clattering from the back,
"It was a bad tackle and people can react to challenges like that. I didn't think it was an aggressive act by Barry, I thought he tried to restrain the Motherwell player. Barry feels aggrieved. Maybe in the old days, the ref would have just got the lads to kiss and make up.
"There is no possibility of me taking any action against Barry. If guys show passion on the pitch, it's alright by me. I'm just surprised he didn't react more heatedly to the foul."
