Maldini admits Madrid proposalAC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has confirmed that he intends to retire when his contract expires in 2007.
The 37-year-old Rossoneri skipper has been a fixture in defence for almost 20 years, also earning 126 Azzurri caps during an illustrious career.
But he told Prada that he will call it a day when his present deal ends, also revealing that Real Madrid tried to lure him away from the Giuseppe Meazza in 2002.
Maldini confirmed: "When will I quit? In 2007, when my contract will expire,
He added: "It's true that three years ago Real Madrid looked at me. Florentino Perez made me a proposal but I didn't want to leave Milan."
