Kenny not holding his breath33-year-old Irishman Kenny Cunningham is not anticipating any imminent negotiations regarding a new contract at Birmingham.
The Birmingham skipper has been a cornerstone of the Blues team so far this season and his current deal expires at the end of next year, however he is not expecting manager Steve Bruce to sit down and hammer out a new deal in the near future.
Cunningham said: "I've got just over a year left on my contract, I haven't spoken to the club and the situation for a 33 to 34-year-old is different from a 27 to 28-year-old,
"I don't think there are too many 33 to 34-year-olds having two or three-year extensions thrown at them.
"I think it is sensible from the club's point of view to view things on a day-to-day basis.
"It wouldn't surprise me if the club are thinking 'the contract will run itself down and then we'll take things from there'.
"It's not as if the manager is going to have people banging on his door to take me away from the club.
"When you get to my age you accept that those two, three, four-year contracts are a thing of the past and you just take it day to day."
