Jol praises hot-shot DefoeTottenham manager Martin Jol has hailed the performance of striker Jermain Defoe following his brace of goals during the 6-1 thrashing of Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta in the UEFA Cup.
“There was a difference in class and quality but you still have to score the goals,” Jol said.
“That is why I put him on, he was eager so I thought it was time for him to come on. But I was happy with all my strikers, Robbie Keane scored and Bent scored.
“Hopefully this will kick-start the season, the only annoying part of it was the goal they scored.”
