Jenas confident of Chelsea scalp

Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas is confident the club can eliminate Chelsea from the FA Cup when the two clubs meet at White Hart Lane this week.

Jenas, 24, said: “There’s a feeling in the camp that we can get some silverware this year.

“We’ve got nothing to be frightened of, we’ve got it all to gain.

“As champions, Chelsea are expected to come and win but we don’t see it that way.

“Coming to the Lane isn’t easy. There’s a lot to play for and the way we’re scoring goals I can see it being an interesting game.

“We’ve given a good account of ourselves against Chelsea this year and if we can maintain our form we can get the right result.

“We were really unlucky against Chelsea in the first game but a bit of tiredness crept in towards the end.

“It was always going to be difficult but the lads fought hard and we’ve got a replay back at the Lane.

“There’s no reason for us to be scared. We beat their best XI once this season already and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.”

He added: “There’s a lot of players craving it that have gone through their career without winning anything.

”We’ve got a lot of winners who need to pick up some trophies.

“I’m one of those players who wants to pick up a team trophy.

“I finished third in the Premiership with Newcastle and I don’t remember getting anything for it, nobody remembers it.

“What you want is that winners’ medal – that’s what everyone strives for.

“The individual awards are great but there’s nothing better than a team award. To win the UEFA Cup or FA Cup would be amazing.

“Not only that but the fans have really supported us over the past few seasons and it would be great to give them something back as well.

“Tonight’s match is a massive game. Coming towards the end of the season this is what you want.

“You don’t want to be in the position where you haven’t got anything to play for.

“It’s great to have these big games with Chelsea and be in the last eight of the UEFA Cup.

“Top players and top clubs should have that at this stage of the season.”
