James rewardedManchester City goalkeeper David James has been offered a one-year contract extension as reward for his fine form this year.
The former Liverpool keeper has had a mixed season with his performances for City in stark contrast with his international form, which has seen him pushed out of the England squad.
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce told the club website: "His form over the last two years has prompted me to sit down and say, 'Where do I get a better goalkeeper than David James?'
"For me he's in the top six goalkeepers in The Premiership.
"In some ways he's played a big part in our defensive record over the last couple of years, and I fully expect that to go on for the duration of his contract.
"He's a very fit boy for his age, there's not an ounce of fat on him, he's professional in his manner and outlook, and he just wants to do well, so it's a just reward for that.
