The former Italy international was capped 79 times for his country and is best remembered for an extremely successful spell with Milan.
The Rossoneri won five scudettos with Albertini in the side and also the 1994 European Cup.
After leaving Barcelona last season, the 34-year-old has been without a club as he rejected the chance to play in his homeland again with Livorno.
Albertini explained: "After a career like mine, I think it is inevitable that I will study to be a coach."
