Inter are prepared to offer £8 million for Chivu and are banking on Roma's financial problems to sway the deal in their favour. A three-year contract, worth £2.3 million-a-season is also being drawn up.
Inter president Giacinto Facchetti hinted last week that a big summer signing would be made, he said: "We cannot discard the idea of making a massive blow in the market."
