Inter favourite likely to stayFan favourite Alvaro Recoba is now likely to stay at Inter Milan following the emotional title celebrations last week.
Recoba told the Gazzetta dello Sport: “Not being able to help my team-mates in the difficult times really hurt me. I was unable to completely enjoy the title win in Siena, so in a certain sense I felt out of place,”
“On an emotional level, that night did change things for me. I was awed by the affection showed by my team-mates at my goal and the chants of the fans.
“At the end of the game I was almost moved to tears when Massimo Moratti hugged me. It was an energetic embrace full of sincere affection. I really needed an evening like that, especially as my parents and children were in the stadium and I finally felt like I was part of this celebration.”
He added: “I just want to play football and to do it here would be the greatest for me. I think my chances of staying are 70 per cent now.”
