Hughes wants Benni sparkBlackburn manager Mark Hughes is hoping the European experience of his striker Benni McCarthy will help his team when they travel to Germany to take on Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup.
Hughes said: “Benni has got great European experience and has had a real impact for us right from the start, on and off the field.
“On nights like this you look to the McCarthy’s to grab the occasion by the scruff of the neck and really make an impact. Benni has done that for many seasons.
“Technically he’s a very good player and he knows more about European football than the Premiership at this point.
“The experience he has in Europe will stand him in good stead at this stage of the competition.
“He has had fantastic success as a player. He has a real desire to succeed here as well.
“But we don’t put all our eggs in Benni’s basket, we have other strings to our bow.”
