Gerrard happy with spiritInspirational Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard thinks the recent off-field dramas involving team-mates Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise have brought the squad closer together.
Speaking ahead of the second leg against Barcelona this week Gerrard said: "What happened in Portugal made us stronger,"
"There was a great atmosphere in the dressing room before the first leg. We knew we needed a tremendous team performance and that's what we got.
"It was ironic that the scorers were John and Craig.
"If I was Rafa I'd have taken us back to Portugal, things like karaoke nights bring the squad together and that was the idea.
"Craig hasn't been down about what happened in Portugal. In fact it brought us all together."
