Former Reds star aiming for topWigan hit-man Emile Heskey is still hoping to showcase his ability on the international stage as he continues his quest to regain his top form.
"I'm really enjoying how things are going for me at Wigan but I would love to play for England again - it's an incentive that's always there," said Heskey.
"I was pleased with my goal against Blackburn at the weekend, it was my second and there could have been more."
"I'm also looking forward to my next club game against Manchester United when I'll no doubt be up against Rio,"
"Over the years I have had some terrific battles with him; he's strong and extremely quick and is again right on top of his form.
"He is up there with the best in the world - a truly terrific player and a fantastic defender."
