Everton defender hoping for repeatEverton defender David Weir is looking for the club to repeat the same performance in the Premiership as they had two seasons ago, after returning from a similar pre-season trip to the United States that the club scheduled leading up to the 2003-2004 season.
Weir said: "We went to America two years ago and on the back of that we had a great season,"
"When we knew we were going to America the boys were dead excited about that and it was a good trip.
"Obviously, it was very warm, but the conditions were great, the facilities were great, so we had a good trip."
Everton assistant Alan Irvine added: "We're still not exactly where we want to be, but we've got the best part of two weeks to get there.
"We're delighted with how the lads have been since day one of pre-season. They have gone about their work really, really well.
"We feel as if we're in very good condition. We just need to kind of nail things down on the team shape, a little match sharpness, things like that, but it's going very well at the moment."
