Defoe reaction played downTottenham manager Martin Jol has played down the reaction striker Jermain Defoe had to being substituted against Fulham on the weekend.
Defoe, 24, was clearly unhappy at the call to take him off in the 64th minute of the match at Craven Cottage and the manager has moved to clear the air before any rumours start regarding his future at the club.
Jol said: "We always talk about that and we do what we have to do, the team is the most important thing. It's about team spirit."
"They can be disappointed and not show it - that is always what we like. But they are human beings and sometimes they do that. Robbie Keane did it against Birmingham, so it can happen - once. But I will have a chat with Jermain."
He continued” "It is an awful situation for a striker because if you play you always have to score,"
"And if you don't score there are always other strikers to come on.
"If you know Jermain he is one of the best team players around because he has put up with this situation for the last two-and-a-half years.
"I thought we didn't look dangerous and we had Robbie there.
"But don't forget the other day Jermain was there and he came on and within minutes he scored.
"Robbie did the same against Middlesbrough before he was injured."
