City players back PearceIrish defender Richard Dunne reckons the Manchester City players want Stuart Pearce to remain in charge beyond this summer.
Dunne told BBC Radio Five Live: "He's been there so long and training has improved already. I think everyone would appreciate it if he got the job.”
Dunne also feels that having to impress a new boss has breathed new life into the squad.
He added: "Pearce is a nice man and he gets on well with everyone but I suppose it's his way of doing things - he is a lot stricter,
"We were surprised when Keegan left because he had come out and said he wanted to see out the last two years of his contract.
"But after that team performance against Bolton it wasn't very good and the fans weren't very happy about the way things were going.
"Pearce's appointment gives the team a bit more motivation for the rest of the season because we've not got much to play for.
"It's just a case of pride and making sure that you stake a claim to be in the team for next season."
