Campbell: Pompey going placesNew Portsmouth signing Sol Campbell has expressed his excitement at joining the upcoming South Coast club.
Sol said: "I have joined because it is a fantastic club, one which is going places with great potential. The chairman really wants the club to move in the right direction and it is a big challenge.
"I want to be up there winning games and moving the club in the right direction.
"There were other situations which were up in the air. Portsmouth were the first ones to come in, two or three months ago.
"It was a decision which was very easy to make."
"There were interests abroad, but they did not work out. I stated that if it did not work out abroad I would look at home.
"I said that from the beginning. What else could I do, stay out of work and twiddle my thumbs?"
