Bowyer loses round oneNewcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer has lost the first stage of his High Court legal challenge.
The former Charlton and Leeds star is fighting a decision to prosecute him for the on-pitch brawl with team-mate Kieron Dyer last season.
High Court judge Mr Justice Bean has thrown out his appeal but Bowyer is set to ask for a panel of three judges to review his application.
His solicitor Steven Barker said: "We do not accept this decision."
