Boro could play 18 year old keeper

Aussie goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is fighting to be fit for Middlesbrough’s home UEFA Cup clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.

Keepers Carlo Nash and Ross Turnbull are crocked and Brad Jones is doubtful.

If Schwarzer fails to shrug off a knee problem boss Steve McClaren might have to hand a debut to 18 year old David Knight.

The Boro boss said: “I’m hopeful Mark will make it.”
