Bergkamp hails an extraordinary playerUntil he started to play alongside the "extraordinary" Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp has admitted that he never believed Ian Wright's all-time Arsenal goal-scoring record could be broken.
Henry's double strike against Fulham at Highbury took his tally for the club to 184 goals in just over six seasons and it is now only a matter of time as to when he will eclipse Wright's historic mark.
Bergkamp, who has observed both players at close quarters said: "At the time I played with Ian, I didn't think I would ever play with another player quite like him.
"I really didn't think his record would ever be broken. But if you play for just two or three years with Thierry and see how he scores goals, goes past defenders and creates things, then you realise the record's going to go.
"It was always going to take a quite extraordinary player to break the record and we have one. It's amazing if a player stays at a club so long, but to hold such a record in the Premier League is quite amazing."
