Barry wants team-mate signedAston Villa star Gareth Barry is hoping Welsh defender Mark Delaney is signed to a new deal at the club.
"I am sure if Mark is fit he will stay here. He has been a loyal member of the team and the club should look at that when they make their decision," said Barry.
"He has got great experience and, when he's fully fit, he is a great player. When we were having a good run four or five years ago, Mark was a big part of that.
"The difficult situation is whether the club will be willing to give him time - or whether he wants to move on.
"I would definitely like to see him stay. If there's a chance for him to get fit and play, he would be a welcome member of the squad. We all know what he is capable of."
