Ayala makes decisionArgentine central defender, Roberto Ayala, will see out the remainder of his contract at Valencia. Ayala has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla all summer, most recently to Real Madrid, following his widely publicised feud with club president, Juan Soler and director general, Amedeo Carboni.
However, it has been announced that after discussions between the Valencia hierarchy and the player’s representatives this week that Ayala will honour his contract, which is set to end in June, next year.
A club spokesman stated, “Valencia can’t allow a player of the ability and integrity of Roberto Ayala to abandon his responsibilities in this manner.” He also stated that the club are looking to extend the Argentine International’s contract, dismissing claims that Ayala has already signed a pre-arranged deal with another team, to move on a free transfer next summer.
