Alonso: Reds fans best in the worldLiverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso says the supporters of the club are ‘the best supporters in the world’ after they urged the team on against Barcelona in their Champions League tie.
"We knew that it was going to be a great atmosphere," said Alonso.
"The support has been massive and for me is why they are the best supporters in the world."
On the chances of the club lifting the coveted trophy again this season, he added: "We have to take it step by step and be realistic,"
"In the quarter-finals we are going to meet a tough team and we don't want to look too far.
"We have respect for all the teams, but we are not scared of anyone."
