African star to retireAfter the weekend's World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Durban, South African striker Shaun Bartlett is to retire from international football.
The 32-year-old Charlton Athletic forward has been included in the squad for the Group Two match in Durban where South Africa must at least draw to ensure a top three place and a spot at next year's African Nations Cup finals.
"My aim was to play in the World Cup but that dream is now gone but I do want to participate in the last qualifier," he said.
"Now would be the best time to start rebuilding a team and give the youngsters a chance. I have already been here for a long time."
