Melchiot explains Roma snub

Dutch defender Mario Melchiot says he decided to join Wigan ahead of both Roma and Marseille because they were most interest.

Melchiot, 30, said: "Sometimes, it boils down to just how much effort someone puts in to get you. I was impressed by how hard Wigan pushed.

"There is a lot of ambition here."
