Yorke bid fails

League One outfit Oldham Athletic have failed in a bid to sign former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke.

Boss Ronnie Moore wanted Manchester-based Trinidad and Tobago skipper Yorke, 34, as his League One Latics chase promotion.

However, Yorke was still contracted to Aussie club Sydney FC when the January transfer window closed and cannot play for another team until next season.
