Lavezzi attracts attentionEzequiel Lavezzi´s masterful performances for San Lorenzo this season have brought a lot of media attention onto the shy, 21 year old originally from Santa Fe.
On Friday night´s, nationally televised game against Belgrano he excelled. Giving a virtuoso performance for the Argentine public by running Belgrano ragged – he capped off his display with a magnificently taken, individual goal, finishing in off the left upright.
Speaking after the game on his current form, Lavezzi revealed, ´it has been a long time since I´ve felt this good. I hope that I can continue playing like this for the rest of the season.´
If he does manage to maintain his form then it surely won´t be too long before Europe´s big clubs come calling for the man nicknamed ´El Pocho´. Reminiscent, in both style and build, to the former Independiente striker, Sergio Aguero, who recently departed Argentine football for Atletico Madrid; it is Lavezzi´s speed of thought and football brain that is his major asset.
His pace, natural ability for turning defenders and tricky footwork, mean that he is extremely enjoyable to watch and his stocky stance amends for his lack of height, as he is still able to protect the ball from oncoming defenders with comparative ease.
And if the San Lorenzo number 10 does remain injury free and can retain his early season form there is a big chance that he will find himself plying his trade somewhere in Europe as early as December – when the Transfer window re-opens.
