Juve boss admits Chelsea contactJuventus manager Didier Deschamps has revealed that he was contacted by Premiership Champions Chelsea to take over as manager before the appointment of Jose Mourinho.
"I am not a Serie B coach, I am the Juventus coach," said Deschamps.
"When the job was proposed to me, there was no possible hesitation. My first contact with them was in 2004, but it was useless to talk about it then. At that time, I also had talks with Chelsea.
"But I was involved with the Monaco project. I believed in it and, moreover, I needed to learn before joining a great club."
On his ambition to one day manage the French national team he added: "I need daily work at this point. I don't long for the French team. If I had received an offer while I was a free agent, maybe I would have considered it, but it didn't happen.
"Of course I would love to coach the French team one day, but I don't want that yet. What I would appreciate in that job is to play with excellence, to play only to win. I am only attracted to a very high level of football.
"I can't see myself moving down from the top level. I would prefer not to coach."
