Boro dismiss Mendieta talkMiddlesbrough have again confirmed that midfielder Gaizka Mendieta will leave the club as soon as possible despite expressing his desire to stay on Teesside.
A Boro spokesman said: "We were amazed to read Gaizka's comments, as the club's chief executive Keith Lamb has held numerous talks with Gaizka, his agents and lawyers over an exit strategy for him,"
"These negotiations have continued over a number of weeks.
"We thank Gaizka for his achievements in the past, but he has been told that he now has no future with Middlesbrough.
"We have been doing all we can to help Gaizka find another club and will continue to do so, but there is no chance of him gaining a place in the Middlesbrough squad."
