Benitez: I would pick Torres

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez thinks star striker Fernando Torres deserves the European Player of the Year award ahead of Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo.

He said: "Fernando would be my selection.

'He has scored a lot of goals and won the Euros with Spain. Ronaldo is also a very good player but I choose Fernando.'
