Soccer player has leg drilled eleven timesDespite having 11 holes drilled into his leg, Hull City's Ian Ashbee is vowing to save his career.
Ashbee has been left devastated by the operation which has ruled him out for up to 12 months.
Surgeons made the holes in a bid to encourage bone growth.
The 29-year-old said: "The bone at the bottom of my thigh bone is dead and it has fractured itself away from the good bone.
"I'm still not too sure whether I'll ever be 100 per cent again.
"It's a serious one, no question about it. If the bone does not grow again I'll have to deal with it but I'm determined to play again.
"I won't be able to tell if it's a success until I have a scan in a few months."
